The Marine Terminal is just a small part of the vast Port of Odesa, yet it holds several notable landmarks. One of them is the "Golden Child" monument, gifted to the city for its 200th anniversary, symbolizing the unbreakable spirit of Odesa’s people. Nearby, you’ll find the Sailor’s Wife statue, a hotel, and a yacht club.
From the terminal, there is a stunning view of the Vorontsov Lighthouse, located at the edge of the Raid (formerly Quarantine) Pier. This isn’t the first lighthouse on this site—previous ones were destroyed over time for various reasons. Today, the lighthouse is operated remotely from the shore, but in earlier days, a lighthouse keeper had to walk there each evening to turn on the light — even in winter, when crashing waves coated the pier in a thick layer of ice.
One of Odesa’s most popular walking tours is called “The Lighthouse Keeper’s Path” and offers a glimpse into this romantic chapter of the city’s maritime history.
