A Ballet in Two Acts
Libretto by Yanina Kyseliova, inspired by the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
Performed with the participation of the theater's orchestra, soloists, ballet company, and the exemplary classical dance ensemble “Fuete” from Art School No. 14, and the “Fuete-Grand” Ballet Center (Artistic Directors – Maryna Koziar and Hanna Pohoretska).
Act I
In a faraway magical kingdom, there lived a beautiful Princess named Snow White. She was not only stunningly beautiful, but also kind-hearted and gentle.
But, as fairy tales often go, an evil Queen Stepmother, obsessed with being the most beautiful of all, feared that Snow White’s beauty would soon surpass her own. Driven by envy, she set out to destroy her stepdaughter.
The Queen refused the proposal of a noble Prince, who had fallen in love with Snow White. Cold and cruel, she and her court relentlessly pursued the young girl, even ordering the Royal Huntsman to kill her. But the Huntsman, moved by compassion, could not carry out the order and secretly let the Princess go.
Unable to accept defeat, the Queen devised another wicked plan. Her servants drove Snow White deep into a dark forest, where she was meant to perish. Yet, against all odds, she survived — and found new friends. The forest animals, enchanted by her kindness, led her to a small cottage… the home of seven dwarfs.
Act II
Snow White meets the seven charming dwarfs — Doc, Dopey, Sneezy, Bashful, Grumpy, Sleepy, and Happy. They welcome her with warmth and care. In turn, Snow White shares her story — about the treacherous Queen, the brave Huntsman, and the Prince who captured her heart.
The dwarfs decide to protect Snow White and help her end the Queen’s cruelty once and for all.
But the Queen discovers that Snow White is still alive and decides to take matters into her own hands — by poisoning her with a magic apple. Disguised as a weary old woman, she comes to the dwarfs’ house. Kind as ever, Snow White offers her water, and in return receives the glistening apple.
Grateful and unsuspecting, Snow White bites the apple. Suddenly, she begins to choke — the world darkens, and she collapses lifeless. Evil triumphs!
The Queen dances in wicked glee with her entourage and vanishes from the cottage.
The dwarfs return home to tragedy — Snow White lies motionless. Determined to save her, they set out to find the Prince.
Guided by love, the Prince awakens Snow White with a tender kiss. Together, they vow to defeat the evil Queen and break her dark spell. A fierce battle unfolds at the palace — the Prince faces the Queen, while the dwarfs and their friends take on her minions.
Then — a miracle!
Good triumphs over evil. The spell is broken.
Snow White is saved! Fanfare echoes through the palace.
Surrounded by friends, Snow White and the Prince celebrate their wedding. The entire kingdom rejoices in the rise of a new Queen — one who is kind, fair, and beautiful.
